Effect of matrix composition on the flowability of spray-dried detergent powders

The flowability of spray-dried laundry detergent is important for manufacturing process performance and reliability, product quality; it strongly dependent on formulation. In this work, a detailed study four model formulations provides fundamental understanding the role particle composition, micro-structure, powder flow behaviour. All powders studied contained sodium salt linear alkylbenzene sulphonate (NaLAS) sulphate. However, their formulation varied depending either initial water content (30.0 or 63.0 wt%) slurry addition silicate with molar-ratios 1.6 2.35 SiO2:Na2O. nil-silicate powder, made from low slurry, had poorest characteristics. binder, significantly improved flowability, ratio silicate, providing better than ratio.
